Responsibilities 

Development and operations of Nordic power generation as well as industrial ownership. 

Background 

Dag Smedbold is acting EVP Nordics from April 1, 2024. He comes from the position as Regional Director for Northern Norway. 
Smedbold has worked for Statkraft since 1987 and has held a number of management positions both in Norway and internationally, mainly with operational responsibility for plants in Norway, Germany, UK and South America. In addition to hydropower, he has also led the commissioning of the first wind farms in Norway and gas-fired power plants in Germany. He sits on the Board of Directors of Eviny. 
 
Smedbold holds a master's degree in marine technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. 

Pål Eitrheim has been appointed EVP Nordics at Statkraft. Eitrheim is currently EVP Renewables at Equinor. He will assume the new position by June 2025 at the latest. Read the press release here.
